Between 2015 and 2018

  • As part of her work in an NGO, Adv. Luft filed freedom of information petitions for the disclosure of documents and information held by the government, so to increase transparency on government websites. In addition, she filed petitions for allowing the entry of goods into the Gaza Strip as well as petitions before the High Court of Justice for allowing Palestinian residents to enter of exit Israel for various reasons. The majority of these petitions led to the government changing its position. 

In 2015 

  • Adv. Luft, as part of her work in an NGO, led a petition before the Hight Court of Justice aimed at revising a policy of the Immigration and Population Authority that had sought to delay the marriage registration of thousands of Israeli citizens. The court ruled in favor of the petitioners in 2019 and the policy was revised. Today all Israelis who have married are entitled to be listed as such immediately. 

-    In 2014

  • as part of her work as an associate in a law firm, Adv. Luft took part in a series of petitions before the High Court of Justice and the district court, aimed at ensuring the recognition of the medical degrees received by Israeli residents at Abu Dis University, so that they could be employed in Israel. The petitions were concluded successfully and today all graduates are employed as doctors, nurses, radiologists, etc. within Israel's health system.

About Adv. Michal Luft

Adv. Michal Luft holds a Bachelor of Laws degree (LLB) magna cum laude from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem as well as a Master of Laws degree (LLM) summa cum laude from the College of Management. She has been a certified attorney since 2013.In the past, Adv. Luft worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as an associate at a private law firm as well as within the nonprofit sector. Throughout her various positions, she represented clients against government agencies, led petitions before the High Court of Justice, Administrative Courts and appellate tribunals. 
Adv. Michal Luft is regarded as an expert in the field of administrative, legal status and immigration law and is highly proficient in all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and policies in these fields. Adv. Michal Luft administers the Status, Foreigners and Immigration forum in the "Tapuz" website and is a member of the Israel Bar Association's foreigners and immigration committee. 

 

Professional Accomplishments  

-    Since 2018 and to date 

  • Adv Luft has successfully overseen hundreds of cases vis-à-vis government agencies, first and foremost the Immigration and Population Authority, COGAT, the Civilian Administration, and assisted her clients in realizing their rights and needs. 

  • Adv. Luft has filed dozens of petitions before District Courts for rescinding security related prohibitions imposed on Gazan residents seeking merchant licenses. In addition, her law firm has filed petitions for renewal temporary residency permits (A/5 Visas) for persons whose permits were not renewed over many months and years without any explanation. The majority of these petitions have led to the reissuance of the sought permit or license.  

  •  Adv. Luft has filed dozens of appeals to appellate tribunals and has achieved much-appreciated success in granting civilian status and permits for foreigners in Israel and restoring legal status to those whose civilian status was revoked.
